MARA's CPD REQUIREMENTS

After reviewing the CPD system, the MARA launched the new CPD framework in February 2011. Any MPE course offered will be approved for the purpose of CPD points.


Mandatory CPD         

There are mandatory CPD requirements that must be met by certain agents for the purposes of repeat registration. You can check which mandatory activities, if any, you must complete for repeat registration on the MARA website – https://www.mara.gov.au/Agent-Information/CPD/default.aspx

MPE’S CPD Express course program has been specifically designed for practitioners with at least three years experience as a registered migration agent. Unless they are practising lawyers or accountants, such agents are only required to do one mandatory CPD activity per year and can therefore complete all their CPD obligations at our program. Part 2 of MPE’s CPD Express course program has been approved by the MARA as satisfying the mandatory activity requirement.


Certain legal practitioners and accountants need only complete ONE MORNING OF CPD with us!

The MARA permits certain agents who also practice in the legal and/or accounting professions to claim four (4) elective MARA CPD points when applying for repeat registration if they provide proof of one of the following with their application:

  • a certified copy of a current legal practising certificate issued by NSW, VIC, QLD, NT, WA, ACT (and SA from 1 April 2012)
  • full membership of Certified Practising Accountants of Australia current at the time of making the repeat registration application
  • full or fellow membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia current at the time of making the repeat registration application
  • membership of the National Institute of Accountants current at the time of making the repeat registration application (retired members are not eligible).

This means that those agents who qualify for this exemption need only complete 6 MARA CPD points with us in order to meet MARA’s repeat registration requirements. We offer 6 MARA CPD points in ONE MORNING in Part 1 of our CPD Express course program.
