Our principals are Jane Goddard, Peter Papadopoulos, Roz Germov and Ron Kessels.



 

Peter Papadopoulos

Peter is a solicitor with extensive experience in migration law whose clients include corporations, educational institutions, students and various individuals throughout Australia and overseas. Between 1996 and 2000, Peter worked as a solicitor and migration agent at Mallesons Stephen Jaques and Gadens Lawyers. Since 2000, he has been the principal of his own specialist migration law consultancy and currently maintains practices in both Sydney and Melbourne. With a particular interest in complex migration matters including health and character problems, Migration Review Tribunal cases and judicial review, Peter has volunteered at the Victorian HIV/AIDS Legal Centre and was a Director of Metta Youth Limited, a non-profit youth organisation. In addition to presenting seminars to corporate and academic audiences for over 10 years, Peter has written numerous articles and has been interviewed on radio about migration law matters and is a contributing editor to the Australian Immigration Law Service published by LexisNexis.

Roz Germov

Roz is a barrister specialising in migration and refugee law at the Victorian Bar. Roz has over 20 years of migration and refugee law experience, including experience at DIAC, as a Member of the Refugee Review Tribunal and a solicitor at Mallesons Stephen Jaques and Freehills. Prior to MPE-Fragomen, Roz devised and ran several highly regarded and successful migration law and administrative law seminars for the Victorian Chapter of the Australian Institute of Administrative Law and the Leo Cussen Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Roz is the co-author of Refugee Law in Australia, a comprehensive legal text published by Oxford University Press in May 2003. In 2008 and 2009 she was listed as one of Australia's best lawyers published by the Australian Financial Review.

Jane Goddard

Jane was admitted as a solicitor in 1987 and has specialised in Australian immigration law since 1993. She has been in private practice as an immigration lawyer since 1997 and is now Special Counsel at Fragomen, Australia's largest immigration law firm. In 2008 she was also listed as one of Australia's top immigration lawyers. Jane specialises in work-sponsored visas, partners and skilled visas as well as health cases and Migration Review Tribunal matters. Formerly the principal solicitor of the Immigration Advice and Rights Centre, she has been an accredited specialist in immigration law by the Law Society of NSW since 1995. Jane has also been a part-time member of the Social Security Appeals Tribunal and the Conduct Panel for the MARA. She has written widely on immigration law and is a contributing editor to the Australian Immigration Law Service published by LexisNexis. She authored the 4th and 5th editions of the Immigration Kit, published by Federation Press and is a former editor of the Immigration Review also published by LexisNexis. Jane has lectured in immigration law at both the University of New South Wales and University of Technology, Sydney. She has taught intending and registered migration agents regularly for over 14 years.

Ron Kessels

Ron became a lawyer in 1990 and has practised in migration law since 1993, is Special Counsel at Fragomen. He has successfully represented hundreds of visa applicants in all areas of migration law, and now specialises in business migration, employer sponsored work visas and cases otherwise put in the too hard basket. Ron appears regularly before the Migration Review Tribunal and Administrative Appeals Tribunal. He is also highly experienced in the area of judicial review and has conducted numerous cases in the Federal Court, Federal Magistrates Court and High Court. As well as migration cases, Ron is also experienced in criminal law and general administrative law cases, as well as extradition matters. He represents many migration agents in disciplinary proceedings before the MARA and the AAT and has been called upon to give expert evidence in civil cases involving migration law issues.   Ron is an experienced teacher who has taught at the University of New South Wales and the University of Technology as well as having presented CPD courses to agents for more than 10 years. He was also listed as one Australia's top immigration lawyers in 2008 and 2009.
